It has asked them to collect fees from students through the Puducherry government-sponsored Centralised Admission Committee, a statement from the office of Lt Governor Kiran Bedi said.
Any non-compliance would attract necessary action under the UGC Regulations, 2016.
A delegation of students recently met Bedi and complained that the deemed to be universities were asking them to pay fees higher than that prescribed by the Puducherry government for PG courses.
The L-G had later raised the matter with the UGC Secretary.
