A footpath-dweller in Gujarat's Vadodara allegedly tied the leg of her toddler daughter with a rope in a bid to prevent her from rushing onto the road so that she can enjoy her afternoon nap, the act which brought her under police scrutiny.
The nomad woman, holding one end of the rope in her hand and tying another to the foot of the girl, was spotted on the footpath near an apartment on Jetalpur road here on March 10, police said Wednesday.
An activist from the city clicked their photos and posted them on the social media, inviting attention of an NGO whose members visited the spot and questionned the woman about her act.
The woman told them that she did so to prevent the toddler from crawling onto the road, when she takes a nap in afternoon, a police officer said, adding that the woman assured them that she won't repeat the act.
Gotri police station inspector P K Rao said the woman left the spot with the girl since she was questionned, and police are looking for them.
