Giving precedence to director's names, 'Kahaani' actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui says he doesn't care for scripts for personalities like Buddhadev Dasgupta.
"I see only the director first. I don't care about the script (at that point) if he is known to be a sensible, big name," Nawazuddin, turning up as an introspective, multi-faceted sleuth in Buddhadev's 'Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa' told PTI here.
"Buddhadevda is nothing short of a legend. I have the hunch whatever he directs will be great, just great," Nawazuddin, who confessed having been wowed by Buddhadev's 'Uttara', 'Bagh Bahadur', 'Tahader Katha' said after the event of West Bengal Film Journalist Association.
Coming to his role in Anwar, Nawazuddin said, "I am playing the character of a sleuth, an inward looking sleuth if you put it that day and it has three segments.
"At the outset he is a guy who has this habit to peep into others lives and then turns into an investigator, a formal one, and finally he tries to fathom what he actually is and is on an inner voyage thereby," the Gangs of Wasseypur, Talaash, Atma actor said.
Asked about the differences of roles between the foul-mouthed, hard-nosed sleuth in Kahaani and in Anwar, Nawazuddin said "The investigator role in Kahaani was more physically manifest as his actions are seen publicly. But in Anwar the role was more inward looking.
About Lunchbox not making to the Oscars, Nawazuddin, having essayed a light-hearted character in the movie, said "it may be disappointing as we all including Anurag Kashyap had so much belief in what we made but at the end of day it's okay. I didn't have the chance to see' The Good Road' but it must be a good movie and my wishes remain."
The NSD graduate, who will also be turning up in Anurag's Dhoomketu, says it was a comedy film shooting of which started this month.
