Cottages nestled amid pear, plum, walnut and apricot orchards on the outskirts of Manali are catering to the niche tourist clientele which seeks some time away from the hustle and bustle that defines Mall Roads of almost all hill stations in the country.
One such option is the Manali Treehouse Cottages, located barely 18 kilometres from Manali city.
The family-run enterprise, which is approved by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department, offers the unique experience of a tree house stay with a breathtaking view of the hills.
"Gone are the days when people used to come to hill stations only for sightseeing. Now, a lot of people are coming just to relax and unwind, they don't like being in the crowd at the Mall Road. We cater to them and the unique experience is reflected in our service," says owner of the cottages, Ambrish Upadhyay.
The service that Upadhyay refers to includes vegetarian food prepared at his own home, which is located inside the resort.
And if one is not keen on trying that, the cottages have fully-equipped kitchens to let the guests do their own cooking.

Besides, the owners also offer jams and juices prepared from the fruits of their orchards.
And given the location of resort, even the hustle and bustle of the town is not too far if one has had enough of solitude.
