Since 2010, there has been no decline in the number of foreign tourist arrivals in India, according to Tourism Ministry data.
There were 5.78 million foreign tourists in 2010 which increased to 6.31 million in 2011. The number further increased to 6.58 million in 2012.
Various measures have been taken to boost foreign tourist footfall in the country such as visa-on-arrival enabled Electronic Travel Authorization for 43 countries and lifting of restriction on gap for re-entry for foreign tourists.
