Mahadeo Shingade, attached to the office of District Forest Officer here, has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act and placed under arrest, it said.
The 32-year-old had demanded Rs 1.50 lakh as bribe from the person, who wanted some favour from him in the case filed against him. The complainant had been arrested for illegally cutting trees and is currently on bail.
The complainant agreed to grease the forest official's palms and at the same time approached the ACB, which laid a trap and caught Shingade taking bribe in a restaurant this evening, Additional SP (ACB) Shrinivas Ghadge said.
