Forest guard held while accepting bribe
Press Trust of India New Delhi A forest guard posted at the Deputy Conservator's office in west Delhi was arrested today after officials of the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) allegedly caught him red-handed while taking bribe.
The accused, Dinesh Kumar (48), was immediately arrested under provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act, police said.
"Further investigation of the case is in progress," Delhi ACB chief M K Meena said.
The complainant in the case, who is a landscaping consultant by profession, approached ACB today and told police that the accused was harassing him for bribe.
Kumar had allegedly demanded Rs 2 lakh for cutting of two trees at a project site.
The matter was finally settled at Rs 1 lakh and the complainant was to pay the first instalment of Rs 40,000 today. A trap was laid accordingly and Kumar was caught red handed while accepting the money, the source added.
