Forest officials of Chainpur Forest Range under Medininagar Forest Division were today attacked by a group of unidentified miscreants in Budhibir Damaro jungle in Palamau district, police said.
The incident occurred when forest officials, led by Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Mahalingam were on their way to investigate into the killing of wild animals by poachers and to bring a tractor used in illegal businesses, which they had seized yesterday, SP Y S Ramesh said.
The miscreants suddenly attacked the forest officials and ransacked the DFO's vehicle, who was moving in another one, Ramesh said, adding that the miscreants managed to take away the tractor.
An FIR has been lodged against unknown persons in the concerned police station, he said.
