Forest officials spot pugmarks of stray tiger

Pugmarks of a stray tiger were seen in Silauli Ghari and Kurmin Khera villages here after it reportedly went missing from Dudhwa National Park in Pilibhit, officials said today.
Joint teams from Lucknow and forest department are carrying out combing search and rescue operation to trap the stray tiger, Divisional Director VK Mishra.
The tiger which strayed from Pilibhit reached here via Sitapur and Lucknow, according to the report of deputy director Utkarsh Shukla.
The pugmarks, detected in Pilibhit, Sitapur and Lucknow, were similar to those detected in Unnao, the officials added.
On the basis of report of Wildlife Trust of India, it was certain that the tiger was a minor, officials said.
The director said that entry into the jungle has been banned.
The world-famous Dudhwa Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh was opened yesterday for tourists.
The tourist season in Dudhwa Tiger (DTR), comprising Dudhwa National Park, Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, commences on November 15 and closes on June 15 every year.
