Forest officials treat injured tiger cub

Forest personnel today tended to a six-month-old tiger cub which suffered an injury to its leg in the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve area in the district, officials said.
The cub, which is three feet tall, was found walking slowly with an injury in one of its legs at Thalamalai, forest department sources said.
Forest officials managed to catch the cub but it tried to bite the veterinarian and others when they attempted to provide treatment.
They managed to administer an injection and some sedative tablets mixed with milk to the animal.
Officials said it is a ferocious cub and they have decided to leave it in the same area to rejoin its mother.
Forest officials said tiger population in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve area has registered an increase as per the census conducted recently but exact figures are yet to be arrived at.
