A former AIADMK MP and a senior DMK leader from Puduchery were among those who joined the BJP in the presence of its National President Amit Shah in Bangalore today, the party's state unit said.
K Malaichamy, expelled from AIADMK by its supremo J Jayalalithaa last year and M A S Subramaniam, DMK's Puducherry Organiser and a former MLA, were among those who joined the saffron party, a release from Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan here said.
Malaichamy was removed from AIADMK in May last year for violating party discipline and for bringing disrepute to its image after he described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "good friend' of Jayalalithaa, ahead of the election results, which created a buzz in political circles as she had not disclosed her post-elections strategy then.
Besides Subramaniam, former DMK legislator Soma Sundaram, Vishali Kannadasan, daughter of veteran Tamil lyricist the late Kannadasan, and her husband Manoharan and many others joined the BJP in the presence of Shah, the release said.
