Former Chief Minister Farook remembered

Chief Minister V Narayanasamy paid floral tributes at the portrait of former Chief Minister and Union Minister MO H Farook here occasion of his 80th birth anniversary today.
PCC president and PWD Minister A Namassivayam, Ministers and legislators of ruling Congress were among those who paid tributes at the portrait.
Farook was the Chief Minister of Puducherry thrice (1967-1968, 1969-1974 and 1985-1990) and he had earlier served as Speaker of Puducherry Assembly.
He was Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Tourism in the Central cabinet headed by P V Narasimah Rao in 1991.
He was appointed the Ambassador to Saudi Arabia in 2004.
After being Governor of Jharkand he moved to Kerala as the Governor of that State in 2011.
He was chiefly responsible for the establishment of the Central University in his home constituency of Kalapet here and provided more than 800 acre site free of cost for the University project which came into being in 1985.
His son M O H F Shah Jahan is the Industries and Revenue Minister now in the Narayanasamy led Congress ministry here.
