M O H F Shah Jahan (son of Farook) led party workers in paying homage at neighbouring Kalapet from where Farook used to be elected to the Puducherry Assembly.
Farook was three time Chief Minister and was Speaker of Puducherry Assembly in the 1960s.
He was India's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and was Governor of Jharkhand and Kerala.
