"Saroori has been given clean chit. There was no evidence collected by the investigating officer against him, he is not involved in the conspiracy," Senior Public Prosecutor for CBI, S K Bhat, told PTI here tonight.
However, Saroori's daughter and son, Huma Tabassum and Muneeb Ahmed, have been named as accused along with 14 others in the two charge-sheets filed before the special CBI Magistrate.
Saroori, who was Road and Buildings Minister in the Omar Abdullah government, was sacked on August 26, 2010 by the Chief Minister after he refused to heed the Congress high- command's directive to resign in the wake of a row over alleged use of an impersonator by his daughter during a medical entrance test in Jammu.
Talking to reporters later today, Saroori said he was implicated by his detractors, but he had "full faith in God and I am satisfied that the CBI has given me a clean chit."
