Bidari joined the party in the presence of BJP state unit President Prahlad Joshi and former chief minister Jagadish Shettar.
Bidari has served as city police chief and as commandant to STF (Special Task Force) that was formed to nab forest brigand Veerappan, who was shot dead in a joint operation by the task forces of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
After retirement, he took the political plunge by joining Congress. He later quit the party after being denied a ticket to contest the Assembly elections from Terdal constituency.
He later joined the Samajwadi Party and quit SP also to float his own political outfit 'Janashakti'.
