The Odisha government is mulling the idea of engaging retired district judges as district legal advisors to assist the police in their respective districts in handling all complicated cases.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made the statement here today while attending the 82nd State Police Foundation Day.
Noting that the State police organization needs to be more citizen-friendly, Patnaik, who also holds the home portfolio, said that in the backdrop of the ongoing socio-economic changes in society, the police force should upgrade itself to meet fresh challenges.
"For this, my government is constantly giving more emphasis on enhancing police capability through modernization and infrastructure building. We are also regularly expanding the force by adding more and more wings to it", Patnaik said.
