Former Goa footballer Domnic Soares passes away

A former Goa footballer, Domnic Soares, who played for Vasco Sports Club and also in the state team, passed away here this morning.
Soares died after suffering a massive heart attack, said Goa Football Association president Shrinivas Dempo.
The 65-year-old is survived by his wife, two daughters and two sons. Soares, who played as a striker for Vasco SC, was a well-known figure among the Goan soccer fans.
During his heydays, he was a part of the famed "ABCD" formation comprising Andrew, Bernard, Catao and himself (Domnic) which won numerous trophies for the Club.
His sublime skills and ability to get past the opponent's defence saw him score many goals.
"The death of Mr Soares closes a significant chapter in the history of Goan football. He was loved and respected by the fans of Vasco Sports Club.
"He also represented Goa in Santosh Trophy and other national championships," Shrinivas Dempo, who is Director of Dempo Sports Club, said in his condolence message.
