A former minister and senior Congress leader as well as his brother, besides directors of a spinning mill have been booked for alleged fraud, according to court orders.
Former state minister and senior Congress leader Sudhakar Gangane, his brother Prabhakar Gangane and other ten directors of Akot Taluka Sahkari Soot Girni (Spinning Mill) have been booked under Section 406, Section 468, read with Section 34 of Indian Penal Code for defrauding the company, according to court orders, though no arrest has been made so far.
Ten others booked include Panjab Sirsat, Bhimrao Wankhade, Pandharinath Siraskar, Shalikram Avchar, Bhaudeorao Girhe, Bhaurao Ambalkar, Narayan Rathi, Sukharam Bagde, besides two women Suman Deole and Mumtazbi Patel.
Former Akot MLA Rameshwar Karale rushed to the local court to register the offences after which the court directed the police to register the offences against the company's directors, sources said.
The dream of setting up a textile park particularly in the Vidarbha region seems to be a far cry, since Congress leaders seem to be allegedly involved in duping the company to the tune of several crores of rupees, even as the Maharashtra state government appears to maintain silence on the issue, sources said.
