Former minister and senior BJP leader Kanhaiyalal Agrawal was allegedly beaten up by two youths at a marriage function over a land dispute, police said here today.
The duo also tried to fire at him but those present at the spot prevented them from doing so, a police official said.
The incident took place late last night in Lukwasa village under Kolaras police station in the district where the 67-year-old former minister was attending a marriage function, the official said.
While the attackers were arrested, three others involved in the incident escaped, Lokwasa police post in-charge Sangita Minj said.
The youth, identified as Atul Bhadoria and Sanju Bhadoria, had a land dispute with Agrawal, suddenly caught him and started beating him up after which they also allegedly tried to open fire at him, when people prevented them from doing so, the police official said.
After Agrawal complained, a case under Section 458, Section 294, Section 506 B, Section 323 and the Arms Act were registered against the alleged attackers.
