Upadhaya has lodged a case in this connection and efforts are on to nab the culprits, who allegedly were in an inebriated condition, Superintendent of Police Happy Guptan said.
Late last night, some people attacked the cavalcade and damaged the window panes of a vehicle besides beating and tearing off the clothes of Upadhaya's security staff.
The cavalcade of the ex-minister, who has been provided Z category security had to take a brief halt due to traffic blockade near Pant crossing.
While his staff was clearing the traffic, some people from a nearby hotel came out and after using foul language attacked one of the vehicles, sources said adding that the one carrying the former minister had moved ahead by then.
