Former minister's wife proclaimed as absconder in assets case
Press Trust of India Ranchi A Special CBI court today granted CBI's plea to proclaim Sushila Devi, wife of former minister Harinarain Rai, an absconder following her failure to appear before the court in the Rs 1.46 crore disproporationate assets case.
Allowing permission, the special court of R K Choudhary also ordered proclamation notice to be pasted on her residence.
Initiation of property attachment would begin if she continued to evade the court even after this order.
On August 23 last year, charges had been framed against Rai, his former cabinet colleague Enos Ekka, and three others in a special CBI court in connection with the case.
Both Rai and Ekka, now out on bail, were in the erstwhile Madhu Koda-led UPA government between 2006 and 2008.
