Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar shifted to hospital

Congress leader and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, who was on a fast unto death, has been shifted to a hospital today, police said.
His fast had entered the fourth day, which he launched over the demand for a government medical college in Karimnagar.
Prabhakar was on a fast at his residence here, as police did not allow him to do so at Indira chowk in the city.
In view of his worsening health condition, Prabhakar was shifted to a local hospital, said Karimnagar Police Commissioner VB Kamalasan Reddy.
A case was lodged against Prabhakar for going on a fast, police had said.

Prabhakar had earlier said that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had promised to establish a medical college in the town in 2014.
Even after three years, no steps have been taken to set up the college here, while a medical college was announced for Siddipet district last year, he had said.
