In a major blow to the Shiv Sena in north Mumbai, former Mumbai Mayor Shubha Raul today filed her nomination from Dahisar Assembly constituency for the October 15 polls as a candidate of the Raj Thackeray-led MNS.

She was upset that the Sena ignored her and gave the ticket to sitting legislator Vinod Ghosalkar for the second time in a row.

Last year, Sena corporators Sheetal Mhatre, Raul and BJP corporator Manisha Chaudhari had complained to Sena president Uddhav Thackeray that Ghosalkar and his son, corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar had mentally harassed Mhatre.

Ghosalkar is also the vibhag pramukh from Jogeshwari to Dahisar and all Sena corporators are required to report to him. Raul, a corporator from Dahisar, had objected to Ghosalkar's style of functioning.

Raul, who is a doctor by profession, had expressed her desire to contest the elections and three months ago, opened an office in Borivali (West) to keep in touch with the voters.
