Former municipality vice-chairman booked in Bundi

A former vice-chairman of Kapren municipality in the district has been booked on charges of illegally confining two Congress ward members and preventing them from casting votes in the municipality chairman elections.
The incident occurred when Phralad Meghwal and Rajendra Meghwal, Congress members of ward number 17 and 18 of Kapren municipality, were taken to nearby Balkasa village by some acquantainces on Thursday evening, SHO Kapren police station, Digvijay Singh said.
The two were allegedly not allowed to cast their votes in the Kapren municipality chairman poll being held from 2.30-5 PM yesterday and were only allowed to leave after the result was announced last evening, the SHO added.
Meghwal's health had worsened last night following which he was referred to Maharao Bhim Singh hospital in Kota, he said, adding, his condition is better today.
On a complaint by the ward members, police has lodged a case against the former vice chairman of Kapren municipality, Dhanraj Meena, under IPC sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 171 (wearing garb or carrying token used by public servant with fraudulent intent) and 143 (being member of an unlawful assembly), he further said.
Inquiry into the matter is underway but no arrest has been made so far, the SHO said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Kapren circle, Manvendra Singh said the accused in the matter would soon be arrested.
In the election, Mukesh Meena from Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) was elected the chairman of Kapren municipality board. He received 10 votes while Congress member Vinod Meena got 8 votes. Two ward members were not present to cast their votes, local election officials said.
