Former Rajasthan DGP passes away

Former Director General of Police of Rajasthan, Amitabh Gupta, today passed away after a prolonged illness at a private hospital here. He was 77.
The IPS officer was suffering from multiple chronic diseases including lung infection, his family members said.
Gupta had served as Rajasthan DGP from 1997 to 2000.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Assembly Speaker Kailash Meghwal and former Congress Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot have condoled his death.
In her message, Raje said Gupta was a hard working and committed IPS officer.
Gehlot said the working style of Gupta had left a permanent image in police functions.

Speaker Meghwal said Gupta had done tremendous work in police reorganisation welfare of policemen.
DGP Rajasthan Omendra Bhardwaj said, "Rajasthan Police has lost one of its most popular officers who was liked by all during his his illustrious career".
"Police personnel will always remember his (Gupta) professional acumen, evident in handling grave challenges and his contribution to police reforms as also morale enhancing welfare measures," Bhardwaj told PTI.
Later in the afternoon, Gupta's last rites were performed at Lal Kothi area.
