The Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Directorate of Vigilance has registered a case against former south Goa Collector N D Agarwal for alleged irregularities in recruitment of government employees.
The case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Agarwal, along with members of the departmental selection committee, had allegedly hatched a criminal conspiracy with the selected candidates for the post of 'awal karkun' and selected unqualified candidates on the basis of the departmental order dated 23 November 2012 issued by him, the ACB said in press release.
The order did not have concurrence of the department of personnel, neither was an amendment made in the order published in the official gazette. The selected candidates were appointed as awal karkuns in 2014, the ACB release said.
The offence came to light, when the said order was not published in the official Gazette, thus violating the norms with a motive to bring the recruitment under the control of the selection committee, it said.
