NRI Affairs Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said the foundation will help the NRIs resolve their grievances within a stipulated time frame and carry out welfare programmes.
The foundation will function at the state level and comprise members of top educational institutions, associations and NGOs for its smooth functioning, he said in a release.
He said the foundation would also organise lectures of renowned members of Punjabi diaspora in different educational institutions to educate students about the culture, heritage and education system in foreign countries.
Majithia said the Punjab Government has decided to set up within a year district level NRI Committees and district level courts, especially for NRIs to resolve their grievances.
He said these NRI committees will also make aware them of welfare schemes initiated by the SAD-BJP government.
He also said the state government has decided to have two separate special programmes 'Know Punjab' and 'Know Your Motherland' for the young generations of NRIs to apprise them of rich culture, heritage, historical values, festivals and traditions of Punjab through documentaries.
