Delhi Power Minister Haroon Yusuf laid the foundation stone for construction of Rs 50 crore GIS grid which would benefit around 70,000 consumers.
It would be the 81st grid in BRPL area of South and West Delhi which would increase areas' distribution capacity by 32 per cent - from 152 MVA to over 200 MVA, a company spokesperson said, adding Delhi's power demand has been increasing at around eight to 10 per cent annually.
It will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore and benefit around 70,000 consumers in areas like Lakhpat Colony, Gagan Vihar, Ekta Vihar, Harsh Vihar, Meethapur Village, Jaitpur Extension (Part 1 and 2) and Hari Nagar Extension.
Speaking on the occasion, Yusuf said "this grid would fulfil the long-standing demand of the residents of this densely-populated area.
