Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today laid the foundation stone for Western Court Hostel Annexe, which will have 88 fully-furnished suites to accommodate new MPs.
The proposed four-storey building with double basement will comprise 88 suites, kitchen, dining hall, meeting room, gym facilities, yoga room, and a multipurpose hall.
It will be an earthquake resistant structure.
The project will have features of three star GRIHA ratings. Each suite will comprise one bed room with attached toilet, dressing room, balcony, and one living room with kitchnette.
The Annexe will have all features of a green building including rainwater harvesting, recycling of waste water, use of solar lights and LED lamps.
The hostel is being constructed on Janpath Road here.

Chairperson of House Committee of Lok Sabha Arjun Ram Meghwal and Members of Parliament and other dignitaries were present during the event.
"It has been felt for some time that the existing transit accommodation (74 suites) was not sufficient to accommodate the new Members of Parliament and their guests. Therefore, the need for construction of more transit accommodations was suggested by the Lok Sabha House Committee," Lok Sabha Secretariat said in a press release.
It said the new Annexe will be constructed behind the existing Western Court Hostel building at Janpath here.
"As the existing Western Court building is a grade II heritage building, the proposed building will be in harmony with the existing building in terms of height and facade," the statement said.
