Four youths accused of molesting a Ugandan woman after she took a lift in their vehicle for returning home were acquitted by a Delhi court which said she failed to support the prosecution story.
Additional Sessions Judge Daya Prakash let off accused Prakhar Gupta, Daman Deep Singh, Shidharth Sharma and Swapnil Rana on all criminal charges, including conspiring to kidnap the woman.
"Since prosecutrix has failed to support the prosecution story, further proceedings were stopped in the present case as no useful purpose will be served after examining her...," the judge said after the woman had failed to identify the accused.
According to prosecution, in July this year, the woman went to a club at Gurgaon in Haryana with her male companion.
"When the two were enjoying music and singing. At that moment one Indian man -- Prakhar -- came to her and took her to the VIP side of the club for enjoying with them. They were four persons," the complainant had told the police.
She further stated that Prakhar told her that they were friends, so they will drop her. On her way home, the boys allegedly tried to assault her.

Prakhar was arrested shortly after the incident as the woman managed to drag him out of the vehicle near west Delhi's Mahipalpur area, while she was being thrown out of the moving car, police had said.
The woman had come to Delhi in March this year on medical visa.
The co-accused -- Daman, Shidharth and Swapnil were arrested following Prakhar's questioning, police had said.
While acquitting the four, the judge noted that the woman was the "only independent witness but she failed to support" the case.
