Four arrested for duping private financial firm

Four youths were arrested here for allegedly duping a Kerala-headquartered private financial firm by claiming that its gold were robbed by unidentified men two days ago, police said today.
The arrested included two employees of Muthoot Finance.
The firm was duped of around 3.4 kg of gold worth around Rs 80 lakh. Police have recovered 2.6 kg of gold and Rs ten lakh in cash.
Sreejith (30), Assistant Manager with Muthoot, Girish Chand (38), an office boy, and their associates Amit Advani (30) and Sandeep Khatri were apprehended yesterday a day after the alleged robbery incident was reported to police, DCP (Central district) Alok Kumar said.
Girish had told police that two men had snatched the bag containing gold at gunpoint. "As per the version of Girish, Sreejith had gone to the branch with his bag and he was alone when the incident took place.
"During probe, the version of complainant Girish was not found to be satisfactory. Primarily, on the point that soon after the incident of his bag being robbed which contained gold jewellery items worth about Rs 80 lakhs, instead of raising a hue and cry, he made a phone call to Sreejith and informed about the incident," Kumar said.

Girish and Sreejith were followed closely and during sustained interrogation, Girish broke down and confessed about the conspiracy, he said.
On Friday, Sreejith and Girish had gone to Lajpat Nagar to bring about 6 kg of gold ornament to their branch at East Park Road.
"The entire gold items were kept in 58 sealed packets, which were further placed in 2 bags. In one bag carried by Srijeet, there were 46 packets with ornaments weighing about 2.6 kgs and the bag being carried by Girish had 12 packets with gold ornaments weighing about 3.4 kgs. This bag was allegedly robbed.
"However, during investigation, it was found that Sreejith was in contact with Sandeep Khatri and soon after reaching East Park Road, near his branch, he called Sandeep who sent Amit and Girish handed him the bag and made a call of robbery," Kumar said.
