Four arrested for murdering retired police constable

Police today arrested four persons including a teenage boy allegedly involved in the sensational murder of a retired police constable at Belaguntha in Ganjam district.
Pramod Kumar Nayak of Malaspadar near Bhanjnagar, who was living in the house of the deceased on rent at Belaguntha was identified as the main culprit in the murder of Binod Bihari Das, a retired police constable, police said.
He along with three of his associates, including a teenager was arrested for murdering the retired police constable, said SP (Ganjam) Ashish Kumar Singh.
The other two accused persons were identified as the auto drivers - Santosh Kumar Nayak and Rabi Behera, he said. The auto drivers belonged to Panchabhuti village in Ganjam district, but the duo live in Bhubaneswar for some years, police stated.
While the main accused was arrested from his house at Malasapadara, the auto drivers were nabbed from Salia Sahi, Bhubaneswara. The teenager boy was held from his house at Patrapali under Tarsingi police station limit in Ganjam district police said.
After committing murder on March 14, the accused persons had locked the body in a wooden box. Police had recovered the decomposed body of Das by breaking the box on last March 22-a week after the incident.

The retired constable was living alone in the house. His son was working in Bhubaneswar, while his wife had died earlier, police said.
Police said the accused persons had killed the old man keeping eye on his property. Police seized a gold ring and a plastic rope which used to kill Das from the accused persons, said inspector in charge, Bhanjanagar police station AK Sahu.
The incident of murder came to light when the son of the deceased informed police when he did not receive phone call from his father for some days.
The son had received the last call from his father on March 14.
