Four arrested in connection with Rs 17 lakh loot in Feb, 2014

With the arrest of four persons, the police here today claimed to have cracked the case relating to a loot of Rs 17 lakh from employees of a private city-based hospital in February last year.
The four, including a former employee of the hospital, were arrested from Buguda area in Ganjam district by a police team, Commissioner of Police R P Sharma told reporters here.
A pistol, two motorcycles and some cash were recovered from them.
The four were identified as Sanjay Nayak of a village in Ganjam district, Pintu Diggal of Kandhamal district, Rajababu Patra of Buguda area and Gagan Kumar Nayak, former employee of the hospital, Sharma said adding, Gagan had passed on the information to gang members about cash being taken to the bank in a vehicle for deposit.
The incident took place on February 3, 2014 when the gang members looted Rs 17 lakh cash, while it was taken in a bag, at gun point near the bank located at Damana Square under Chandrasekhapur police station here, the police said.
The accused persons were also involved in three loot incidents in different areas of Bhubaneswar in 2015, Sharma said adding, another gang member was absconding and efforts were on to nab him.
