Four blocks of Jalpaiguri under water

Around 2000 families were affected by rising water of three rivers in four blocks of Jalpaiguri district following incessant rains for the past several days, officials said today.
Vast areas of Jalpaiguri, Dhupguri, Rajganj and Mal blocks were under water as rivers Karala, Duduya, Jilandi and Tista are in spate.
In Jalpaiguri block, areas like Mahamayapara, New Town Para, Shantipara, Dinbazar are submerged by Karala water while the outdoor department of the Sadar Hospital is under water, the officials said.
Jalpaiguri SDO Sima Haldar said boats were being used to rescue people from water logged areas.
Rising water of Duduya and Jilandi rivers have affected around 700 families of Dhupguri block, the officials said.
' Affected by water of Tista, lives of the people of Mal (650 families) and Rajganj (550 families) blocks were hit and many of them have taken shelter in embankments.
