The stage is set for the four-day All India CITU conference here tomorrow which would deliberate on the problems being faced by the working class in the country.
More than 2,000 delegates from different states representing all major industrial sectors would attend the conference.
National leaders of central trade unions like CITU, INTUC, UTUC, BMS and HMS would also address various sessions of the conference.
Besides leading Indian trade union leaders like Gurudas Dasgupta (AITUC) and Abani Roy (UTUC), fraternal delegates from World Federation of Trade Unions and International Labour Union would also attend the meet.
On the eve of the conference, CITU All India General Secretary Tapan Sen and president A K Padmanabhan stressed the importance of unity among trade unions.
"Unity of trade unions should reach grassroot level," Sen said.
Citing the example of recent national strike called jointly by the trade unions, Sen claimed it turned out to be a "great success" because of the unity among the trade unions.
Trade unions should fight the "anti-people and anti-worker" policy pursued by UPA Government, he added.
