Four die in road mishap in MP

Four members of a family, including two children, on their way to a temple Wednesday were mowed down by a truck on Satna-Simaria road near here, the police said.

Two others were injured in the accident.

The incident occurred at around 4 AM when a group of six persons, including two children, was walking towards the Durga temple, located 5 kms away from the city, an officer said.

"The victims are identified as Chunni Pyasi (65), Renu (30), Lalla (6) and Shubhi (8)," Kolgawa police station in-charge RP Singh said, adding that they were residents of Ghugchhiyai village.

The injured persons are undergoing treatment in Satna, he said.

Police were alerted about the incident around an hour later by some passers-by, the officer said.

A case has been registered against the truck driver who fled the spot after the accident, Singh said, adding that further investigation is underway.
