The farmers were cutting crop near the forest area yesterday when wild boars strayed in the field. The boars turned violent while being chased away and attacked the farmers, a forest official said.
The animals might have sneaked in to eat vegetable plants and crops as the village is located close to forest areas and their habitation corridors, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Bimal Prasanna Acharya said.
The injured were hospitalised and are stated to be out of danger. The forest department is bearing the cost of treatment and will also provide compensation to the injured person's families, he said.
