Four persons have been arrested for allegedly beating a man, believed to be a Nigerian, and tying him to a pole after he allegedly attempted to burgle a house in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar last month, police said.
After a video of the incident surfaced yesterday, the police registered a case and arrested a man, identified as Krishan Kumar, in whose house Ahmed had entered to commit burglary on September 24. Ahmed (27) had been arrested in the case and is currently in judicial custody.
Following Kumar's arrest yesterday, the police apprehended four more men, identified as Sanjay alias Montu, Kamal Kant, Mahavir and Mukesh, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ishwar Singh.
These men were identified on the basis of the CCTV footage, police said.
Initially, it was suspected that Ahmed had sustained injuries after he slipped while trying to escape.
Kumar, a resident of Savitri Nagar, had claimed that a man broke into his house and tried to steal valuables from the almirah kept in his room, police said.
