Four held for smuggling gold worth Rs 1.4 cr at IGI

Four persons have been arrested at IGI airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle gold into the country worth about Rs 1.4 crore, Customs official said today.
Of the four arrested, three had arrived here from Dubai while one from Afghanistan on Tuesday.
They were intercepted by customs officials soon after their arrival. On detailed examination of their baggage, gold bars, wires, stripes and plates weighing 5.5 kg were recovered, a Customs official said.
The recovered gold was seized and passengers were arrested, the official said, adding the total value of the yellow metal is around Rs 1.4 crore.
