"The accused, identified as Jambla Karunaker and Subodh Kumar (both Upper Division Clerks), Narla Siva Ram Prasad and K David, (both Lower Division Clerks) working in the Passport Seva Kendra, abetted passport agents in preparing files for obtaining passports under Tatkal Scheme with fake election voter ID proofs," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detective Department) P J Victor said.

Hyderabad Police had arrested a gang of four passport agents in August last and a retired Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) employee for their alleged involvement in preparing fake voter ID cards and ration cards to facilitate people in obtaining Passports under the Tatkal Scheme.

Police stumbled upon the "collusion" between the passport agents and some of the passport counter staff during the course of investigation.

According to them, the accused allegedly accepting the Tatkal passport forms from some candidates making exception to their personal appearance which is mandatory and prepared files for issuing passports under the Tatkal scheme, Victor said, adding all the arrested were today remanded in judicial custody.
