Four people had a miraculous escape when a helicopter crashed today after its tail caught fire while landing at an airport near Mount Everest.
The 9N-AEX Air Dynasty chopper crashed while attempting to land at Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla when it hit the wire fence and caught fire, according to airport authorities.
The four people on board - all Nepalese citizens - managed to escape. One passenger Dagelu Sherpa sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment.
However, captain Arun Malla, Passenger Lakpa Sherpa and his wife Anita Sherpa, who sustained minor injuries, returned to their home after receiving first aid treatment.
