"The daughter of the store's owner was among the dead, along with three employees," said General Rodolfo Palomino, head of the national police.
The attack took place in the town of Quibdo, capital of Choco province, on the border with Panama.
Officials believe the explosion was caused by a package bomb left at the store late on Tuesday.
Palomino said he believes the bombing was carried out by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, (FARC), a leftist group with between 7,000 and 8,000 rebels under arms.
Palomino said police also are investigating the possible involvement of another armed group, los Urabenos.
That group, made up of former rightwing paramilitaries, is one of Colombia's most feared drug trafficking organisations.
