Four members of a family drown in flood waters

Four members of a Yavatmal-based family, including a five-year-old girl, were drowned after their car was swept away by a flood near Kaundanyapur on Wednesday morning, a police official said here today.
However, the incident came to light only in the morning after flood waters receded, the police official said.
The deceased have been identified as as Sanjay Govind Ajankar (50), Gajanan Govind Ajankar (40), Gayatri Gajanan Ajankar (35) and Sanvi Gajanan Ajankar (5), who were all residents of Pragati Society in Yavatmal.
According to police sources, the Ajankars had started for Wardhamaneri in Arvi tehsil from Yavatmal last morning.
They were travelling in their Alto car (MH 29 AD 4496) via Dhamangaon Railway-Anjansingi route.
After they reached Bildori nullah, which was in spate, after heavy downpour for 48 hours, they failed to guess the flood situation and got swept away.
The incident was noticed only at 7 am today morning when some people saw the car stuck at the mouth of a bridge.
The police and Teosa tehsildar Vijay Lokhande rushed to the spot on getting information about the incident.
