Four members of a gang arrested

Four members of a gang which had allegedly robbed nearly 275 kg silver worth more than Rs one crore from the employees of a cargo company at gun point from Old Delhi Railway Station after taking them hostage has been arrested by Delhi Police.
Police has also recovered 80 kg of the robbed booty from them which costs around Rs 32 lakh and efforts are on to locate the remaining robbed item.
During the armed robbery, which took place on May 11 one of the dacoits was wearing a police uniform and brandishing a pistol to threaten the victims.
"The arrested accused have been identified as Sunil (35), Harender Kumar alias Tori (48), Joginder alias Jugnu (38) and Chander pal (52). Investigations have revealed that Sunil, a handcart puller who was hired to transport the jewellery had tipped off the robbers about its movement," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Madhur Verma.
The incident was reported to police by one Amit Kumar, manager cum partner in Rail Cargo Company. He had sent his workers Govind and Dilip along with two hand cart pullers Sunil and Hari Singh to collect the delivery of 11 cartons containing silver jewellery from Old Delhi Railway Stations which was coming from Rajkot by train.
He got a call around 7:40 AM from one of his worker Ramesh who told him that some cartons have been robbed and the robbers also took them in a vehicle. When he reached at his office, one of his employees Ram Kumar told him that after loading the cartons on handcart when they reached at Queens road at about 7:30 AM, suddenly a white colour Scorpio waylaid them.
"Two persons alighted from the SUV, one of whom was in police uniform having pistol in his hand and they started threatening them. There were three more persons with him who abducted Govind, Dalip, Sunil and Hari Singh and went away. After this, one Xylo car came to the spot and three people from this car took four cartons of jewellery with them," said Verma. More PTI TAQ MRM

Next, three more persons reached the spot on a motor cycle and tried to take away one carton, but failed. After that, one of the kidnapped persons, Govind Singh informed his office that they were left by the robbers in a jungle near Noida. On checking, Amit found that four cartons containing silver jewellery weighing 250-275 Kg worth around Rs once crore ten lakh were missing out of total 11 cartons.
During interrogation, team of Kotwali Police Station interrogated all the four abducted persons along with other persons present near by. In sustained questioning, Sunil broke down and disclosed the conspiracy.
"He disclosed that his nephew Jugnu, along with Tahir, and Sant Raj hatched a conspiracy to rob the silver jewellery. He gave them all the vital information about place, timing and route. Jugnu and Sunil both were arrested in this case and further interrogated in detail and, they further disclosed the whereabouts of accused Tahir and Sant Raj, living somewhere in Greater Noida and Bulandshahar, UP area," said Verma.
Police then conducted several raids and nabbed Harender who was wearing police uniform at the time of committing dacoity hence, Section 170 IPC was added in the case. After that, Chanderpal was also arrested and 80 kg robbed silver jewellery was recovered on his instance from Kasna, Greater Noida, UP.
No previous criminal involvement has come on record against any of the four accused.
"The main conspirator Sant Raj, Babloo alias Nepali, Anuj, Man Singh and Tahir are yet to be arrested while efforts are on to seize the remaining booty, vehicles. Further investigations in the case are still in progress," said Verma.
