The deceased have been identified as Rahim (30), his wife Rubina (25), her sister Yasmin (23) and their 16-year-old nephew Suban, all from Kaup in Udupi district, police said.
The incident occurred near Gadaikallu at Nada here.
The family had come to visit the Kajuru Dargah, police said.
On the way, Suban wanted to wash his feet and they stopped at the stream, they said, adding, he accidentally slipped and fell into the water.
The other members rushed to his rescue, but were washed away, police said, adding, the bodies have been recovered.
