Four men get life term for murdering City Board member in UP

Four men including three brothers were today sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court in a 2011 murder case.
Additional District Sessions Judge Rajbir Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 each on the accused.
The court after holding the accused -- Aklim, Kalim, Kasim, and Ikram -- guilty under section 302 of the IPC also asked them to pay Rs 30,000 to the victim's family from the imposed fine sum.
According to government lawyer Jitender Tyagi, Zakir, a member of the City Board was shot dead by the accused in Mehmodnagar locality here on April 8, 2011.
Tension had prevailed in the area after murder incident.
Police had registered a case against 15 people in this connection.
The court today acquitted the remaining eleven accused on account of lack of evidence.
