Four northeast teams seal quarterfinal berths in Subroto Cup

A fierce competition was on display between the teams from NCC (NER) and Oriental English School, Khashi Hills, Manipur. S Tejibala Devi scored a hat-trick as NCC girls secured an easy 3-0 win against the Manipuri side.

Government High School, Alkapuri, Haryana put behind the disappointment of losing their last game to thrash Pravara Kanya Vidya Mandir, Maharashtra 8-0 and become the second team from group III to qualify for the quarters.

The girls from Haryana, who pumped in 17 goals in their opening league encounter against the team from Car Nicobar, rode on twin strikes from Sanju, Sonia and Munesh to make it to the last-eight.

Two girls of Kabul's Rabia Balkhi High School were found overage and debarred from playing their league match, resulting in the match being awarded to the Nasibpur High School of West Bengal. However, both teams failed to enter the quarters of the tournament.

Government Senior Secondary School, Lapathy, Nicobar too failed to field a fit team and Nagaland got a bye in the Group III tie.
