Four of family arrested for rape

Four members of a family, including a 24-year-old man,were arrested today on a complaint by a woman that he had raped her teenage daughter at Pollachi in the district.
The girl reportedly tried to commit suicide today by dousing herself with kerosene and setting herself ablaze. However, neighbours doused the flames and rushed her to a hospital here.
Police said the girl had fallen in love with the man residing near her grandmother's house and used to contact him frequently over phone.
The mother claimed the man had forcibly taken her daughter to his house a couple of days back and sexually assaulted her.

The girl narrated the incident to her mother following which she lodged a complaint. The man, his parents and his aunt were arrested, police said.
