"Of five persons who underwent surgeries on March 11, four developed infection and complained of low-vision two days later," said Dr Beena Desai, head of Ophthalmology ward of L G Hospital.
"They were operated upon using the latest phacoemulsification process," she said.
"When the patients came for follow-up procedure the second day, four complained of low-vision and we are treating them," she said, adding nearly 1,200 patients undergo cataract operation at the hospital every year.
Three nurses who were involved in the operation have been suspended today and a three-member committee has been formed to look into the matter, Hospital Superintendent Dr Yogendra Modi said.
