Four police constables suspended for dereliction of duty

A day after five youths died on consuming spurious liquor during Holi in Hastinapur area of the district, four constables have been suspended for dereliction of duty, police said today.
Taking note of the issue, SSP Deepak Kumar has suspended Satpal, Vijay Dutt, Rakesh and Devendra for dereliction of duty and departmental action has been ordered against homeguard Sanjeev, police said.
Compensation of Rs 20,000 each was given to the victims' kin under National Family Benefit Scheme, District Collector Navdeep Rinva said, adding, a recommendation has also been sent to government for help from Chief Minister's Discretionary Fund.
A police team along with officials from Excise Department will carry out a search in Khadar area to find out where the alcohol was being sold.
The district magistrate has also ordered a probe into the matter.
Five youths, two of them brothers, succumbed in a hospital yesterday after consuming spurious alcohol.
